Triple P (Positive Parenting Program)

Is this you?

Other parents don't seem to have it as tough as you. Your child frequently misbehaves. Most days are a battle - from breakfast to bedtime. If this sounds familiar, Triple P can help.

Triple P gives support to help manage a child's behavior and prevent the kinds of problems that make family life stressful.

What is Triple P?

Triple P (the Positive Parenting Program) is an evidence-based program (EBP) for parenting and family support. Diakon staff are trained in Triple P Standard and Standard Teen and have been providing Triple P for several years. Both programs are proven to help parents and caregivers:

  • Increase knowledge, skills and confidence
  • Reduce the prevalence of mental health and emotional and behavioral problems in children and adolescents
  • Improve family relationships and reduce conflict

Positive Parenting

Positive Parenting aims to promote children's development and manage children's behavior and emotions in a constructive and non-hurtful way. It is based on strong, nurturing relationships, good communication and positive attention to help children develop.

Triple P - Positive Parenting Program is one of the few parenting programs in the world that is based on evidence from clinical research.

For more than 30 years, families have been helped by easy-to-understand and practical strategies.

Meetings

Over the course of 10 individual sessions with a Triple P provider, families will set goals and work out what changes they would like to see in their child's behavior. They will learn strategies they can use and adapt them to suit their family's needs. They will see examples of positive parenting, show their provider what they've learned and record their goals and achievements in a workbook.

Locations

Meetings are offered in your own home. We come to you! Seven of the sessions will take approximately 1 hour and three of the practice sessions will take 40 minutes each. When finished, families should feel confident to tackle most of the problem situations in their home - and anywhere!
